Yes it can be done this way. To debug, Start with simplest configuration as follows. Do not add cyclic prefix and noise to the signal. You can do them after fixing the basic issues.

bits -> symbols-> Map to QPSK symbols -> IFFT -> FFT -> Demap QPSK symbols -> symbols -> bits

Start by sending just 10 to 20 random bits of data through this chain. Check you can recover all the bits intact.

Once this is done, introduce noise with appropriate SNR levels and plot the performance curve. The performance must match with that of conventional QPSK modulation.

Next, add and remove cyclic prefix in the transmitter and the receiver and verify the performance.
