SpecsCore AI

Check manufacturer datasheets against your board design limits – on your PC.
Citation-backed matrix, local PDF preview, bring-your-own API key. No SpecsCore cloud.

Who it’s for

Board, hardware, firmware, and apps engineers who today use Excel + Ctrl+F on datasheets
when choosing parts.

The pain (why this exists)

Part selection is still a manual grind. You open a 50-400 page manufacturer PDF, hunt for
electrical / absolute-max / timing tables, then reconcile those numbers against your
board limits (rail budget, enclosure temperature, drive current, radio constraints). Common pain points:

  • Ctrl+F theater: searching PDFs for “VCC” or “Iq” misses footnotes, conditions, and the difference between recommended operating vs absolute maximum.
  • Spreadsheet ping-pong: limits live in Excel; datasheet values live in a PDF. Copy/paste errors and stale rows are easy.
  • Weak audit trail: review meetings ask “where did that number come from?” – page citations are hard to keep consistent.
  • Cross-compare fatigue: comparing 2-6 candidate parts against the same design budget burns hours and still risks missing a hard fail.
  • Cloud anxiety: uploading unreleased or NDA datasheets to a random AI website is often a non-starter for hardware teams.

How SpecsCore solves it

  • Your limits are the source of truth – paste or upload the board targets; SpecsCore does not invent industry defaults.
  • Matrix with citations – row-by-row comparison plus Page / Section links that jump in a local PDF preview so you can verify every claim.
  • Local-first privacy – PDFs stay on your PC. Bring your own Gemini / OpenAI / Anthropic key; SpecsCore has no datasheet middleman cloud.
  • Cross-compare – load several candidate datasheets against the same design limits when you are down-selecting parts.
  • Scope large manuals – for long PDFs, pick Electrical / Absolute Max / radio sections so you send only what matters.

How it works

  1. Slot 1 – Datasheet: load a manufacturer PDF (or the built-in NE555 sample).
  2. Slot 2 – Design limits: paste or upload your board targets (CSV / Excel / table).
  3. Run: get a compliance matrix; click Page / Section links to jump in the local PDF preview.

Privacy

  • PDF files stay on your computer and are parsed locally.
  • Your API key stays on this device (Gemini, OpenAI, or Anthropic – you choose).
  • On Run, only the text you selected (plus design limits) goes to your provider.
  • SpecsCore does not operate a middleman cloud for your datasheets.
We’re gathering engineer feedback (free evaluation).

After you try the Windows build (about 15-20 minutes with the sample), please reply with:

  1. Did install + first Run make sense?
  2. Would this help vs Excel + Ctrl+F on datasheets – yes / no / maybe, and why?
  3. Anything broken or missing that would stop you from using it again?

Requirements

Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit). WebView2 is installed automatically by the SpecsCore installer if missing.
You need an API key from Google Gemini (easiest), OpenAI, or Anthropic to click Run – or explore the UI with the sample without a key.
